Privacy policy

What this site is

Lake of the Ozarks Boat Gas Prices (lozgas.com) is a community-run tool for reporting and viewing fuel prices at gas docks around Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. It is an independent project, not affiliated with any marina or fuel company.

Information we collect

If you sign in, we receive your name and email address from Google. We use your email to identify your account and attribute price submissions to you. We do not collect passwords, payment information, or any other personal data.

Price reports you submit — including the dock, fuel type, price, and timestamp — are stored and displayed publicly on the site. The public username you choose when you register is shown alongside your submissions; your name and email address from Google are never shown publicly.

How we use your information

Your email is used solely to authenticate your account and enforce per-user rules (such as one upvote per dock per day). We do not sell your personal information, and we never share your name or email with advertisers. See “Analytics and advertising” below for the visit data our third-party tools collect and how to opt out.

Cookies and storage

If you sign in, our authentication provider (Supabase) sets cookies (named sb-…) to keep you signed in. We store your analytics choice (below) in your browser’s local storage. The Meta (Facebook) pixel sets its own cookies (such as _fbp and _fbc) unless you have opted out (see below).

Analytics and advertising

To understand how the site is used, and to reach boaters who might find it useful, we rely on two third-party services:

• Vercel Analytics, which collects aggregate, anonymous traffic statistics (such as page views and general location) without cookies and without identifying individual visitors.
• the Meta (Facebook) pixel, which we use to measure visits and to see whether our Facebook ads are working. Your browser sends Meta the pages you view on lozgas.com, your IP address, general device and browser information, and pixel cookies; for visitors who are also logged in to Facebook, Meta can link this activity to their Facebook account. It does not receive your name, email, or the price reports you submit. Because this is used for advertising, it may count as “sharing” under some state privacy laws. To opt out, turn on your browser’s Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track setting — we detect it and do not load the pixel — and/or adjust your Facebook ad settings and browser cookie controls. Meta’s use of this data is governed by its own privacy policy.

Location and maps

If you use the “near me” feature, your browser asks your permission to share your location so the map can center on you. Your coordinates stay in your browser — we never send them to or store them on our servers. Maps are drawn with map tiles from OpenStreetMap; to load those images your browser contacts OpenStreetMap’s servers directly, which receive your IP address and the map area being viewed.

Data retention

Price submissions are retained indefinitely so the community can track historical trends. If you would like your account removed, email us and we will delete your account and personal information; your past price reports are kept but are no longer linked to you.
